Job Summary:  
This new position reports to the Director Shared Services (in Coppell) with a dotted line to the Brink’s Corporate Accounting department (located in Richmond, VA).  With the new lease accounting standard becoming effective 1/1/19, Brink’s has decided to create 4 global lease accounting centers that will handle lease accounting for the Company.  The Coppell location will handle all English speaking countries as well as the smaller foreign language countries (utilizing translation services) that are not supported by the other 3 centers.  This position will manage the lease accounting center in Coppell and will be trained and managed by the Brink’s Corporate Accounting team for this portion of the role.  This is expected to comprise 25%-50% of the role, with a higher percentage in the beginning until a steady state is achieved.  This role will manage 2 preparers who will be partially devoted to leasing and will work with a 2nd reviewer as needed.  The remaining time will be utilized for the US Shared Service Center, which will include activities such as monthly close duties, balance sheet and P&L analysis, account reconciliations, audit support and other projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the lease accounting center in Coppell, which includes activities such as:
• Working with corporate accounting on the evaluation of embedded leases and related technical memos.
• Determine classification of facilities and equipment leases (financing vs. operating)
• Using Lease Accelerator to perform the accounting and reporting for leases
• Responsible for Sox documentation (narratives, RCMs) and execution.
• Analyze and reconcile lease-related balance sheet accounts.
• Technical accounting resource for the countries that the center serves for lease accounting.
• Managing and reviewing the work of staff.
• Analyze General Ledger accounts, reports, financials statements and assist in month-end close work.
• Assist with both internal and external audit including performing some self-testing on fixed asset related transactions.
• Prepare/Assist in completing account reconciliations on a monthly basis by deadline.
• Coordinate with the off shore Shared Services Team for accounting, reporting, and financial close matters.
• Assist with special projects on as needed basis.

Job Requirements



Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting.
• 7 years experience in the accounting field or 3-5 years public accounting
• Experience with lease accounting under the current standard and familiar with the new standard
• Intermediate proficiency level in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in a publicly traded company.
• CPA certified or Master’s degree in accounting

Preferred Qualifications:
• Big 4 experience
• Oracle Financials.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledgeable of US GAAP and SEC Reporting.

Professional Skills:
• Experience performing technical accounting research and writing technical memos.
• Experience in project and/or large engagement management to meet deadlines.
• Ability to motivate, build relationships and solicit cooperation from all levels of financial management.
• Experience with financial statement preparation for a multi-entity organization, month-end, journal entries, and experience in lease accounting and financial statement analysis.
• Exposure to budgeting and account reconciliations.  Experience working with a fully integrated accounting system preferred.
• Experience engaging in process improvement initiatives.
• Experience improving the company’s internal controls.
• Experience with GL operations and reporting chart of accounts, account reconciliation and analysis and internal financial reporting.
• Experience with Shared Services / off shore model.

While this position sits at the US subsidiary, it provides great visibility across the organization through the leasing accounting center portion of the role as this position will work closely with foreign entity CFO’s to assist them with lease accounting and will also work closely with Corporate in this effort.  In addition, the role provides additional growth opportunities working with the US accounting team which also collaborates with a shared service center in Colombia.  If you have the background and integrity we require and are looking for a challenging opportunity, we hope you will consider employment with Brink’s.  We provide a competitive salary, medical, dental, vision and life insurance plans.
